My 1993 Mazda B2600 - The conversion candidate
My 1993 Mazda B2600 - The conversion candidate

Here it is.  This is my 1993 Mazda B2600 pickup.  This is the last year that Mazda actually made these trucks.  After '93, the Mazda B-series trucks were just relabeled Ford Rangers.

  • Original owner
  • Approx. 110,000 miles
  • 2.6 liter, 4-cylinder
  • 5-speed manual
  • Rear wheel drive
  • Extended cab
  • A/C, power assist steering and brakes
  • (A/C currently broken - expensive to repair)
  • Curb weight: 3430 lbs
  • Gross vehicle weight: 4585 lbs
  • Fuel tank: approx 11.5 gallons
  • MPG: 19-22 city, 24+ hwy

On this site I found the following table with gear ratios for the transmission:

'R' gear ratio's

Car 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th
1988-89 929 3.483:1 2.015:1 1.391:1 1:1 .762:1
1987-88 TII 3.483:1 2.015:1 1.391:1 1:1 .762:1
1989-91 TII 3.483:1 2.015:1 1.391:1 1:1 .719:1
1993-95 TT 3.483:1 2.015:1 1.391:1 1:1 .719:1
89-93 B2600 3.730:1 2.158:1 1.396:1 1:1 .816:1
  • TII = 2nd Generation "FC" RX7 Turbo II
  • TT = 3rd Generation "FD" RX7 Twin Turbo

As for the differential, I found various number online indicating 3.7 - 3.9.  I made a measurement of RPM vs. speed in 4th gear (supposedly 1:1 per the above chart).  At 3000 RPM I was going 62.5 MPH.  I measured the wheel+tire diameter at 25 inches.  Based on this I computed that the differential ratio is 3.57:1.  Feel free to check my math.

Joe - I did not put it together until I saw the picture - I used to drive a B2600 too (1989). It was an awesome truck.

@Logan I assume you mean the color of the truck. I’m sorry I don’t know what it is called. I looked through my file but I couldn’t find anything that said the name of the color.

Edited: I found some of the original purchase paperwork and that color was called "Tropic Emerald M"
