As I look at this web site I realize I have not updated it in a long time. But we have still been busy working on the truck. It just takes twice as long to get stuff done as I think it should. Originally I hoped I could get it done in 6 months, but now we are into the second year. Oh well.
On the topic of taking too long, I decided in the interest of getting something on the road, to give up for now on the idea of building my own motor controller. It is not that I don't think I could eventually get something working. It's just that between my day job and everything else that needs to get done on the truck, I simply don't have time to work on it.
So I decided I would just go ahead and buy a Curtis controller. I know it is the low end but I understand they are very reliable and of course cost quite a bit less than anything else available. I considered the Kelly controller but they have such a bad reputation I decided against it. I was also interested in a Synkromotive but I could not get any information about when they might finally be available, despite my emails to the company, so I gave up on that.
Here is the Curtis controller I received today. I look forward to getting it mounted in the truck.
